Effective July 1, 2026

CardCite is a free tool that saves research citations while you browse and lets you insert them into your Google Docs. By using the CardCite Chrome extension or the Google Docs add-on, you agree to these terms.

What CardCite collects, and why

CardCite collects only what it needs to do its job:

  • Your Google account email and ID, used to sign you in and link your saved citations to you, so the same library shows up on any device and inside the add-on.
  • The citations you choose to save (such as the title, author, publication, date, link, and quoted text). These are stored so you can insert them later, and only ever when you save them yourself.

We do not collect or store anything from your documents. The add-on only writes to the Google Doc you have open, inserting the citation you select at your cursor. It never reads, copies, or saves the content of that document or any of your other files, and it does not track your browsing. We do not sell your information or share it beyond what is needed to run the service. You can find the full details in our Privacy Policy.

Your content stays yours

You keep all rights to the citations and notes you save, and you are responsible for citing your sources accurately.

Provided as is

CardCite is free and provided as is, without warranties. We cannot guarantee it will always be error free or that every citation will be perfectly accurate, so please double check a citation before relying on it. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for damages arising from your use of it.

Changes

We may update CardCite or these terms over time. Continued use means you accept the current version.
