CardCite for Google Docs: Terms of Service

Effective September 20, 2026

Using the CardCite add-on for Google Docs means you accept these terms. The privacy policy sets out how your information is handled.

What the add-on collects

Two things, and nothing else:

  • Your Google account email and ID, used to sign you in and to match you to your own saved citations.
  • Citations you have saved to your library yourself: the title, author, publication, date, link and any quoted text you saved with them. They are stored so that you can insert them later.

Your documents are not part of that. The add-on writes the citation you pick at your cursor, and it does not read, copy or store anything else in that document or in your other files. Your information is not sold, and it is not shared beyond what running the add-on requires.

Checking a citation

CardCite is free and provided as is. Check a citation against the source before you rely on it: a detail can be missing or wrong, and the citation you insert is yours to stand behind. To the extent the law allows, the developer is not liable for damages arising from your use of the add-on.

Changes

The add-on and these terms may change over time. Continued use means you accept the current version.
